The ADAC MX Masters will get its short season underway at Grevenbroich’s sandy circuit on the weekend of 19th/20th September when riders contesting the motocross series will have a fresh chance to show what they can do. Last year’s ADAC MX Masters runner-up, Pascal Rauchenecker on the Sarholz KTM, will be one of the favourites in the strong field at Grevenbroich which is set to host the series for the first time and also at the second event at Tensfeld, 3rd/4th October. Since current champion Dennis Ullrich is out of action with a training injury and cannot contest the ADAC MX Masters ‘Short Season’, Austria’s Rauchenecker will be pushing hard to clinch the championship, as he is excellent on sand. For the first time ever, all the races from Grevenbroich and Tensfeld will be freely available as live stream at youtube.com/adac.
Rauchenecker will have strong competition within the team at Sarholz KTM from former MX2 World Champion Jordi Tixier, who is also extremely keen to establish himself up front. Castrol Power 1 Suzuki Moto-Base team have signed someone speedy too, and Brian Hsu will likewise keep his team-mate, Stefan Ekerold, on his toes. Ekerold now lives near the track at Grevenbroich and is perhaps hoping to have a small home advantage as the season kicks off. At Monster Energy Kawasaki ELF Team Pfeil, another fast and experienced rider, Belgian Kevin Wouts, has been brought in to race for the team in green and replace the injured Jens Gettemann while KMP-Honda-Racing will be relying mainly on the services of the Belgian, Jeremy Delince, and the Estonian, Gert Krestinov. So as you have perhaps already realised, practically all of the motorcycle manufacturers are sending their very best riders to fight for the championship.
From a purely German point of view, fans will continue to pin their hopes and expectations on the two brothers, Tom (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) and Tim Koch (AB-Racing by Zweiradsport Schmitz), plus Mike Stender (SHR Motorsports). Freestyle motocross professional Kai Haase will be making his comeback, as the Suzuki rider from stielergruppe.mx Johannes-Bikes has decided to return to racing, since FMX events are not taking place at the moment and he has already taken points in the MX Masters class previously in the past.
Some very strong guest entrants will also be going up against the field of riders in the ADAC MX Masters. Kevin Strijbos and former champion Henry Jacobi will rock up at the starting gate as the ‘Short Season’ kicks off in Grevenbroich. Max Nagl is unable to compete at Grevenbroich due to a clash of dates but will join the line-up for Tensfeld. All three riders are capable of taking the win on the day. Larissa Papenmeier makes an interesting guest starter. She came third in the 2019 Women’s World Championship and has decided to take advantage of new rules in the MX Youngster Cup, which have abolished the upper age limit for women. She will compete against the boys at Grevenbroich on her Yamaha.
For the first time ever, all ADAC MX Masters races will be freely available as live stream on the ADAC YouTube channel at youtube.com/adac and adac.de/motorsport. So now, despite the decision by the local authorities not to allow spectators to be present at either meeting due to current guidelines for events, ADAC MX Masters fans everywhere will be able to watch the races live on Saturday and Sunday. Experienced broadcaster Thomas Deitenbach will provide commentary for the live streams and will be supported by Lukas Greussing and Jan Uttich with interviews and short clips from the paddock. All these live streams will remain freely available on the ADAC’s YouTube channel as recordings after the event.
