Everts and the Reisulis brothers win the junior classes in Fürstlich Drehna

Liam Everts takes victory in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. Karlis Reisulis wins the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125. Janis Reisulis is victorious in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85.

The ADAC MX Youngster Cup, ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 and ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 treated the 7,300 fans in the Brandenburg town of Fürstlich Drehna to an exciting race weekend with a number of surprises. In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, Liam Everts (BEL) emerged victorious after some thrilling battles with Mike Gwerder (SUI). Victory in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 went to Karlis Reisulis (LAT), just ahead of Maximilian Werner (GER). In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85, Janis Reisulis (LAT) was the overall winner, having finished on the same number of points as Viteszlav Marek (CZE).

ADAC MX Youngster Cup

The weekend should have belonged to local favourite and championship leader Maximilian Spies (GER). However, after three action-packed races it was Liam Everts (BEL) on the Liamski KTM who edged out the excellent Mike Gwerder (SUI) from the WZ Racing Team and Marcel Stauffer (AUT) on the Sturm STC Racing Team’s two-stroke KTM. Gwerder led Saturday’s opening race from start to finish to take a narrow victory over Everts. Gwerder then led race two on Sunday afternoon until just before the finish, when he eventually bowed to the increasing pressure applied by Everts. As on Saturday, Stauffer took third place on the two-stroke KTM. In race three, the fast-starting Gwerder took an early lead. However, Everts once again got the upper hand over him and had opened a comfortable lead by the finish. Spies struggled with crashes in the first two races. Race three went better for the Team Maddii Racing Fantic Factory rider, and he passed Gwerder with four laps remaining to take second place and secure fourth place in the event standings. In the championship standings, Stauffer halved his deficit to Spies to just five points ahead of the finale in Reutlingen this weekend. Noah Ludwig (GER) from the Becker Racing Team lies third, 40 points behind championship leader Spies.

“I am very happy. This is my first overall win of the year. The three races were good, the battles with Mike were fun. He defended hard but fairly,” said Everts after his successful weekend.

“The first two races were mega strong. In the third, I did not feel right and could not get in the flow. Nevertheless, I am happy with second place for the weekend,” said Gwerder.

“I struggled and was not able to match the pace of the front two. However, I am very happy with my second podium on the factory-setting two-stroke KTM. I want to challenge for the win and the championship in Reutlingen,” said Stauffer.

ADAC MX Junior Cup 125

In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, Karlis Reisulis (LAT) from the Yamaha Europe MX125 MJC Team ended the three races with a narrow one-point advantage over Maximilian Werner (GER) on the Kosak Racing Team KTM and championship leader Scott Smulder (NED) on the Husqvarna run by the No Fear-Jumbo-BT Racing Team. In Saturday’s opening race, Bradley Mesters (NEL) on the Kawasaki of the F&H Racing Shop-HMX Team had to wait until the final few corners to wrest the lead from Werner. Smulders recovered from a poor start to finish third. In race two, Smulders showed his customary fine form on the sandy surface, taking a lights-to-flag victory over Werner and Reisulis. As on Saturday, Werner took the Red Bull Holeshot in the final race. However, he was unable to fend off the attacks from Reisulis after the early laps. Roberts Lusis (LAT) from Sturm STC Racing came home third. A collision on lap one saw Smulders drop to the back of the field, from where he fought back to 14th place. In the table, Smulders holds a significant lead over his closest rivals Constantin Piller (GER) and Werner, who are tied on points.

“I found a better rhythm on Sunday than in the first race. My starts were good, and victory in race three and the overall win were the culmination of a great weekend,” said Reisulis after his victory.

“We practiced a lot of starts last week. With two holeshots and a second place, I put myself in a much better position at the start than I had done recently. I never thought I would finish in the top five in my first season on the 125 cc bike,” said a satisfied Werner.

ADAC MX Junior Cup 85

No other class was as close as the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85. After two races, Janis Reisulis (LAT) on the Motofavorits KTM was classified as the overall winner. Championship leader Viteszlav Marek (CZE) was second, level on points with Reisulis, with Noel Zanocz (HUN) just one point back on the Sarholz Racing Team’s KTM. Marek took a comfortable victory in race one on Saturday, ahead of Zanocz and Reisulis. However, Reisulis turned that result on its head in race two, winning in commanding fashion ahead of Zanocz and Marek. Going into the finale in Reutlingen, Marek leads Zanocz by just two points. Gyan Doensen (NEL) lies third, well behind the leading pair.

“Having passed Noel to take the lead in race two, I then hit the deck just a few corners later. However, I took a lap to catch my breath and then gave it my all again. It is great to secure overall victory with the race win,” said a delighted Reisulis.
