First win for Cyril Genot in the ADAC MX Masters in Dreetz

First race win and overall win for Cyril Genot. Jordi Tixier moves into the lead at the halfway point of the season. Best performance from a German rider was podium for Tom Koch.

Dreetz. The debut appearance of the ADAC MX Masters at MC Dreetz for the third race weekend of the season provided some thrilling duels for the 5,000 or so spectators to enjoy at a challenging circuit. Cyril Genot recorded his first two race wins to claim overall victory at the event in Dreetz. As injury prevented Max Nagl from competing due to injury, defending champion Jordi Tixier moved to the top of the table by finishing second overall. Tom Koch produced the event’s best performance by a German rider, finishing third overall.

Jordi Tixier (F) had won the opener in the third round of the ADAC MX Masters on the sandy circuit in Dreetz, riding the KTM for the Sarholz Racing Teams. Previous table-topper Max Nagl (D) was unable to compete in Dreetz due to injury. In the first race, Tixier overcame an error to record a dominant victory ahead of his team-mate and the winner of the Red Bull Holeshot, Cyril Genot (B), and Lars Van Berkel (NL) from the CKK Honda MX Team. Tom Koch (D) started the race from pole position on the Kosak-KTM, but was forced to work his way up from the back of the field after a poor start. His chase ended in fifth place, behind Gert Krestiov (EST) from the KMP Honda Racing team.

On Sunday, it was once again Cyril Genot who moved his Sarholz-KTM into the lead with the Red Bull Holeshot. The Belgian built up a lead of several seconds on the first lap and continued to extend his advantage. Tixier moved past Toms Macuks into second place on lap four. Koch again made a poor start but produced a spirited performance to move forward. After KMP Honda Racing rider Jérémy Delincé (B) took a tumble, Koch was able to reach third place with a third of the race complete. Tixier also hit the deck three laps later. Koch reacted by releasing the shackles to chase Genot. However, he kept his cool to the finishing line, celebrating his first race win in an ADAC MX Masters race, ahead of Koch and Tixier.

The third race saw Genot secure his third Red Bull Holeshot in Dreetz. However, Koch was faster out of the gate and slotted in right behind the Belgian. Lap after lap, the two KTM riders continued to give no quarter. Meanwhile, Tixier moved into position behind the leading duo by overtaking Delincé on lap three. At the halfway point of the race, Genot was able to pull away a little from Koch during lapping manoeuvres, while Stefan Ekerold (D) on the Husqvarna from the Bauerschmidt MB 33 team pushed past Delincé into fourth place. Genot chalked up his second race win ahead of Koch and Tixier. This result saw him top the overall standings, ahead of Tixier and Koch.

“I coped really well with the circuit in Dreetz from the word go. During the first race, I could feel that something was not right with my body. I tried to regenerate as much as possible despite my temperature yesterday, but I would never have expected to win my first two ADAC MX Masters races today. I am also happy to have recorded my first overall win in the series,” said a delighted Genot.

Jordi Tixier has now moved to the top of the table, two points ahead of Cyril Genot. Tom Koch is six points further back. Ahead of the next event in Fürstlich Drehna, Max Nagl is 32 points behind Genot and Jérémy Delincé is in fifth position.
