Jordi Tixier is crowned ADAC MX Masters champion in Reutlingen

Jordi Tixier defends his ADAC MX Masters title. Max Nagl wins three races to take overall victory in Reutlingen. Tom Koch is runner-up in the championship.

5,600 fans enjoyed ideal racing conditions as they witnessed exciting races in the battle for overall victory at the final round of the ADAC MX Masters in Reutlingen. Even before the final race, Jordi Tixier (FRA) had already wrapped up the championship. Max Nagl (GER) shone with three race wins, which catapulted him into third place in the table. Tom Koch (GER) climbed into second place in the championship at the event, which was staged by ADAC Württemberg e.V. and organised in cooperation with local clubs 1. RMC Reutlingen e.V., MSC “Eiserne Hand” Aichwald e.V. and MSC Gaildorf e.V.

Husqvarna rider Max Nagl from the Krettek Haas Racing Team had already won Saturday’s opening race of the ADAC MX Masters finale in Reutlingen. LS2 Best Qualifier Jordi Tixier (FRA) from the KTM Sarholz Racing Team took the Red Bull Holeshot and initially found himself at the front of the ADAC MX Masters field. However, Max Nagl (GER) was not hanging around and promptly took the lead on lap two. Despite three broken ribs, Nagl then consistently pulled clear of the field. Tixier rode a controlled race to take second place, knowing full well that his closest rivals in the championship – Tom Koch (GER, Kosak Racing Team) and Sarholz team-mate Cyril Genot (BEL) – were behind him. Local favourite Elias Stapel (GER) thrilled the crowd on the Finkmoto Holzgerlingen KTM. He had already impressed with the second-fastest qualifying time in his group, and was running third at the halfway point of the race. He eventually came home seventh. Mike Stender (GER) from the SHR Motorsports team finished third on the Yamaha to claim the best result of his career. Koch crossed the finish line behind Jérémy Delincé (BEL) of the KMP Honda Racing Team in fifth place, having suffered a self-inflicted crash. Genot ended the race in tenth place, where he had started it.

On Sunday, Nagl was the fastest to sprint over the Red Bull Holeshot line in the second race of the weekend, followed by Koch and Stapel. Nagl soon established a comfortable cushion, while Tixier first had to work his way towards the front. At the midway point of the race, Tixier passed Koch to take second place, and the front three crossed the finish line in that order. Stapel produced another impressive race, which he ended in fifth place behind Delincé. Tixier’s second place was enough for him to secure the ADAC MX Masters title before the final race of the season. Genot again struggled on the hard ground and dropped below Koch into third place in the table.

Nagl again took the Red Bull Holeshot in the final race of the weekend. In doing so, he ensured that he was officially the season’s fastest starter. However, Tixier wasted little time in taking the lead. Once there, though, he was unable to distance Nagl. Tom Koch was riding a lonely race in third place, as he was unable to match the pace of the front two. Stapel was once again running in the top five, behind Delincé, but dropped back to 21st with problems around the middle of the race. Towards the end, Nagl put Tixier under some serious pressure and, with four laps remaining, overtook him to take the lead in front of an excited crowd. Tixier came home second, ahead of Koch. Husqvarna riders Stefan Ekerold (GER) from the Bauerschmidt MB33 team and Tim Koch (GER) from the AB-Racing by Zweiradsport Schmitz team enjoyed an impressive end to the season in fourth and fifth place. With a hat-trick of race wins, Nagl was the event’s top rider, ahead of Tixier and Koch.

Jordi Tixier claimed his second ADAC MX Masters title, having also been crowned champion of the ADAC MX Masters Short Season in 2020. Tom Koch ended the season as the best-placed German in second place, ahead of Max Nagl, who moved ahead of Genot and into third place in the final race of the year.

“Max was simply faster this weekend. We had a good scrap in the final race, which was good for the awesome crowd at the track. I am very happy to have won the title again. In Max Nagl, Tom Koch and Cyril Genot, I had some really strong opposition this year and had to be at my best. Despite a few issues, like the disqualification in Tensfeld, I never gave up. I would like to thank my family and the KTM Sarholz Racing Team. This success would not have been possible without them,” said Tixier after successfully defending his title.

“I wanted to win as many races as possible this season, and I did that. The battle with Jordi in the final race was great fun and the fans really got behind me. I changed my strategy when he took the lead and studied his lines. I felt good and fit and planned my attack in detail. The strategy worked perfectly,” said Nagl after his victory in Reutlingen.
