Milestone for the ADAC MX Masters in Tensfeld. The Motocross series staged its 250th race in Schleswig-Holstein on Sunday. Victory in the milestone race went to last year’s champion Jordi Tixier, while Max Nagl won two races to come out on top in the daily classification and extend his lead at the top of the championship. In the ADAX MX Junior Cup 125, which kicked off its season in Tensfeld, Maximilian Werner took victory. Dutch rider Levi Schrik completed the treble in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 class: who won all three races to pick up maximum points with a dominant display.
ADAC MX Masters
Max Nagl continued his winning run from the season-opener in Bielstein, triumphing in the first two races in Tensfeld. Only in the third and final race did Frenchman Jordi Tixier finally get the better of him. After Nagl’s success in Saturday’s opening race, ahead of Tixier and Jérémy Delincé, the Husqvarna rider from the Krettek Haas Racing team showed his strength again, leading from start to finish to take an emphatic victory in race two on Sunday. As on Saturday, Tixier followed him over the finish line in second place. However, he was then disqualified for failing to observe a flag. As a result, Cyril Genot from the KTM Sarholz Racing team was promoted to second place, ahead of Belgium’s Jérémy Delincé from the KMP Honda Racing team.
In race three on Sunday, the 250th ADAC MX Masters race, Nagl initially looked as though he was going to be lucky to finish, after his bike stalled briefly at the start gate and was not running properly in the early laps. Meanwhile, Tixier took the Red Bull Holeshot before pulling clear to take a comfortable win. Nagl’s technical issues let up over the course of the race, allowing the German to take second place ahead of Tom Koch. This was enough to earn him the overall victory and to extend his lead in the championship.
“The start of race three was very difficult with an engine that was not running cleanly. The problem then disappeared in the middle of the race and I was able to race as normal again. I was really lucky today, as that could easily have been a DNF. I am delighted with second place in this race and the overall victory,” said Nagl afterwards.
Cyril Genot was second in the overall classification, having finished fourth, second and fifth. Tom Koch was unable to take advantage of his pole position in any of the three races and repeatedly found himself having to fight his way back to the front of the field, partly because of mistakes and crashes. Third place in the final race was enough to earn the Kosak KTM rider third place in the overall classification. That also puts Koch third in the championship, behind Tixier but ahead of Genot and Delincé.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 125
German Maximilian Werner took overall victory at the opening round of this season’s ADAC MX Junior Cup 125. The KTM rider from the Kosak Racing team benefitted from a mistake made by double race winner Scott Smulders. The Dutchman, who had won the first two races in commanding fashion, arrived in the pre-start area too late for race three and was consequently not permitted to start. Smulder’s faux pas opened the door for Werner to clinch the overall victory, courtesy of fourth, third and sixth place. The third race was won by reigning ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 champion Bradley Mesters, who had suffered a DNF in Saturday’s opening race due to a technical issue. Despite this, he still managed to finish third in the overall classification.
“I didn’t believe I would come away with the overall victory after I collided with another rider at the jump and hit the deck on the opening lap of the final race. However, the fightback to sixth place was definitely worth the effort and I am pleased to be at the top of the table,” said Werner, who took overall victory without having won a single race.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 85
Levi Schrik ended the weekend in Tensfeld with maximum points. The Dutch KTM rider from the Motivation Motorsport team won all three races. However, the success was not easy, as the front-runners in this class were very evenly matched in all three races, and he had to battle his way to the front. His compatriot Gyan Doensen finished second, third and fourth to take second place in the overall classification, ahead of Czech rider Viteszlav Marek, who extended his championship lead over Noel Zanocz and Semen Rybakov.
“I am very happy to have won all three races here. My start was not ideal in the final race, but I was able to work my way through the field quickly and then move into the lead. I will compete in more ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 races, but unfortunately there are a few clashes with the Dutch championship,” said Schrik after his successful weekend.
All of the races from both days of the event can be watched free of charge as a re-livestream or individually via the Playlist ADAC MX Masters Tensfeld. All the weekend’s results are available online at adac.de/mx-masters. The next ADAC MX Masters event takes place in Dreetz on 14th and 15th August.
