With about three months remaining until the start of the season, in Dreetz on 8th/9th May 2021, the permanently-registered riders in the four classes – ADAC MX Masters, ADAC MX Youngster Cup, ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, and ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 – have now been confirmed. There remains great interest in the ADAC MX Masters, with figures even higher than those of last year: 260 riders from 24 countries will do battle for points and titles when the series enters its 17th season. In total, more than 320 applications were received. With 96 registered riders, the ADAC MX Youngster Cup is the strongest class in terms of numbers. Brands Gasgas and Fantic are new to the series, taking the number of motorcycle manufacturers involved in the ADAC MX Masters to eight.
The 68 registered starters in the ADAC MX Masters class include many potential contenders for the title. Perhaps the favourite is reigning champion Jordi Tixier from the KTM Sarholz team. However, the Frenchman will face stiff competition. Among those on the grid again will be record champion Dennis Ullrich, who missed last year’s “short season” due to injury. In Tom Koch on the Kosak KTM and Max Nagl on a Husqvarna, a further two German riders will be among the hot favourites to win races and challenge for the title. Newcomers Cyril Genot from Belgium and Bulgarian Petar Petrov will be giving it their all from an international perspective, as will established ADAC MX Masters riders Jérémy Delincé, Gert Krestinov, and Nathan Renkens, to name but a few. Tanel Leok is also in discussions regarding entering the series again. More top riders from the MXGP World Championship have already expressed interest in making guest appearances, with some contemplating a full season in the series.
In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, reigning champion Maximilian Spies will defend his title. However, circumstances have changed massively for the ADAC Stiftung Sport rider: he will now ride a 250cc two-stroke Fantic bike. “I want to show that I am also good for the title in a long racing season,” says a confident Spies. A strong international opposition, including Belgian Liam Everts, Sweden’s Teddy Jondell and reigning ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 champion Martin Venhoda, will be pursuing the same goal. From a German perspective, Noah Ludwig, Marnique Appelt and Paul Bloy, together with Spies, have excellent prospects of finishing well up the field.
Many talented youngsters use the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 as a step up from the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 towards the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. As such, many young riders take that step on the road to the top each year. Of the 48 young riders registered, from 70 applicants from the starting places, Cato Nickel and Pius Bergmann look the best bets for German success. However, ADAC Junior Cup 85 champion Bradley Mesters and the man who finished runner-up to him, Maximilian Werner, will also fancy their chances after stepping up to class 3.
The ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 received 82 applications, with 48 riders now registered for the championship. On paper, Latvian Markus Ozolins is one of the favourites to win the class. Lotte Van Drunen is also tipped to mix it with her male counterparts and claim some podium finishes.
Now that the registration deadline has passed, riders can now enter individual races as guest starters. This is possible at nennung.adac-motorsport.de/adac-mx-masters.
