Victory for Grau, Rossi and Doensen in the youth classes

Maxime Grau dominates all races in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. Marc-Antoine Rossi wins the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 on KTM Erlkönig. Gyan Doensen scores maximum points in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85.

The second half of the ADAC MX Youngster Cup season began at the weekend, watched by 17,000 spectators. Maxime Grau (F/Neestan Husqvarna Factory Racing Team) won all three races, while Guillem Farres (ESP/Raths Motorsports) extended his lead at the top of the table to 61 points. In the fourth event of the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, Marc-Antoine Rossi (F/Sturm STC Racing) prevailed over his rivals to win two out of three races. Ivano Van Erp continues to lead the championship standings by 42 points. Gyan Doensen (NL/Husqvarna SKS-Racing NL Team) dominated both races in the third round of the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85. After a streaky weekend, Maxime Lucas (B/Becker Racing) was still able to defend his lead in the table, one point ahead of Jonathan Frank (D/Schmicker Racing).

It was Maxime Grau's weekend, as the French rider proved unbeatable on the challenging hard track at MSC Gaildorf e.V.. As LS2 Best Qualifier, the Husqvarna rider won all three races in the class. Grau exited lap one in the lead in each race and controlled the field to chalk up maximum points. Guillem Farres reached the podium three times on the KTM and extended his championship lead to 61 points after the second-placed rider in the championship, Camden McLellan (ZA/TBS Conversions KTM Racing Team), failed to meet qualifying conditions. Maximilian Spies (D/Schmicker Racing) turned McLellan’s bad luck to his advantage, claiming second place in the table after finishing third overall at the weekend. Spies continues to improve, producing good starts and securing second, third and fifth places, after taking a tumble in race three. Yago Martinez (ESP/KTM SB Racing) also performed consistently, improving from race to race and claiming fifth, fourth and third positions to finish fourth overall in Gaildorf. He closed the gap in the table to fourth-placed Noah Ludwig (D/Becker Racing), who did not enjoy a good weekend in Gaildorf and was forced to retire from the third race. The overall top five was rounded off by a good performance from Cato Nickel (D/WZ-Racing), culminating in race results four, five and six, after he won the Red Bull Holeshot in race one and held the lead for several laps.

“It was a really good weekend for me in Gaildorf. I had three good starts that made my life easier as the conditions were pretty slippery early on. I felt good here from the word go, but it was still not easy to win the three races, as all the riders are very fast,” said a delighted Maxime Grau as he reflected on his second overall win of the season.

“My starts were not good and I made life difficult for myself. Thanks to McLellan’s misfortune, I have been able to build a good lead in the table and I tried to ride smart in the races, keeping an eye on the championship. But a lot can still happen at three events and I will not take it easy with the lead,” explained Guillem Farres.

ADAC MX Junior Cup 125

The fans in Gaildorf enjoyed three thrilling races in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, as several riders showed that they had the pace to claim victory. After three races, LS2 Best Qualifier Marc-Antoine Rossi (F/Sturm STC Racing) topped the podium with one second place and two race wins. In Gaildorf, Rossi rode a preproduction model of next year’s KTM 125 SX. The French rider was only defeated by 14-year-old Janis Martins Reisulis (EST/Hamstra MX Team) in the first race. He finished second overall with one race win, as well as one fourth and one second place. Championship leader Ivano Van Erp (NL/SHR Motorsports) battled with his rivals, but also with stomach problems. He produced some good racing nonetheless and led the field for a period in race three before taking a tumble during a battle with Rossi. He was in third place overall after finishing third, second and third, and his championship lead over Reisulis only shrank by three points. Karlis Alberts Reisulis (EST/Yamaha MJC) claimed the Red Bull Holeshot in the first race but then fell during the race itself. The elder Reisulis brother recorded race results of ninth, third and fifth to finish the weekend in fourth place, ahead of reigning ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 champion Vitaszlav Marek (CZ), who rounded off the overall top five by placing fifth, tenth and fourth. Van Erp leads the championship standings ahead of Janis Martins Reisulis, Marek, Julius Mikula (CZ) and Karlis Alberts Reisulis.

“It was all great this weekend: the circuit, the fans, testing my new KTM here, and of course the overall win as well. I had some good duels with other drivers, the level here is very good and it’s a great championship,” said a delighted Marc-Antoine Rossi after claiming victory in his guest appearance.

“I am actually a little disappointed, as I was in the lead in the third race but fell after a fair blockpass from Rossi. But at the same time, I am pleased to be back on the podium and to still be leading the championship,” explained Ivano Van Erp after the award ceremony.

Gyan Doensen prevailed in the youngest racing class at the “Auf der Wacht” circuit, recording two race wins to secure maximum points. In the first of two races, he beat LS2 Best Qualifier Mick Kennedy (NL/Motocross AAD), who won the Red Bull Holeshot, and Dex Kooiker (NL/Bloody Harry Energy/RGX MX Team). Kennedy fell at the start of the second race and had to rejoin nearly one lap down before finishing empty-handed. Kooiker finished third again in race two, this time behind Áron Katona (HUN/HTS Team). Behind Doensen, Kooiker and Katona, Kjetil Oswald (CH/Kosak Racing Team) and Jayson Van Drunen (NL/SHR Motorsports/Yamaha Motor Europe) rounded off the overall top five. Championship leader Maxime Lucas made two poor starts, taking a tumble in race two. He then battled his way up from the back of the field to 16th place. Jonathan Frank also endured a challenging weekend, but until the final lap of race two it did seem likely that he would be the new championship leader. However, a fall on that final lap cost him three positions and put Lucas back on top of the table. However, his lead has shrunk to just one point.

“I really am satisfied. It took a little while in race one to get to the front. However, I was able to build a lead in both races, and control the race. Unfortunately, I had to skip the first two races in the championship. Now I am aiming to get into the top three in the table,” explained a visibly satisfied Doensen after the win.

“We really had some gremlins in Gaildorf, my starts weren’t good and after falling in race two I had to give my all to still reach the points. I am happy that I was able to defend the Red Plate, which I have had since Dreetz, and I am aiming to defend my lead until the end of the season,” said a rueful Maxime Lucas after the second race.
