The large crowds at the Waldkurs track in Bielstein enjoyed some exciting racing in the junior classes within the ADAC MX Masters. In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, championship leader Oriol Oliver (E/WZ-Racing) continued his winning run. Jarne Bervoets (B/Bervoets Racing Team) extended his lead in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85, courtesy of victory at round two of the season in Bielstein. The Team competition, which runs across all the classes, was won by Kosak Racing Team.

ADAC MX Youngster Cup: WZ Racing monopolise the podium again The three WZ Racing riders once again made their mark on the ADAC MX Youngster Cup and, as they did last time out in Randers, occupied all three steps of the overall podium in Bielstein. Oriol Oliver took overall victory, ahead of Cato Nickel (D/WZ-Racing) and Mike Gwerder (CH/WZ-Racing), who ended the weekend tied on points. Oliver won both the opening race on Saturday and race three on Sunday. In race two, he came off the track of his own accord whilst attacking race leader Gwerder after the first third of the race. He then crashed in attempting to rejoin the race.

The Spaniard then showed his class with an impressive fightback, which took him from eleventh to fourth place. Nickel and Gwerder also endured a difficult race, as well as two strong ones. Nickel finished third in the opening race, but then found himself 16th after the first lap of race two, which he eventually ended in seventh place, while Gwerder took the victory ahead of Jan Wagenknecht (CZ) and Julius Mikula (CZ/MJC Yamaha Official EMX 125 Team). Jan Krug (D/Sixty Seven) produced a strong display in race two, which saw him running in the top three for a long time, until he dropped back to sixth place after a crash on the final lap. In race three, Oliver stormed away from the rest of the field after taking the Red Bull Holeshot. Gwerder, meanwhile, became entangled with another rider whilst attempting an overtake, and ended up on the ground. Nickel took a comfortable second place, while Marnique Appelt (D/Becker Racing) passed Wagenknecht on the final lap to take third. Gwerder managed to salvage twelfth place. In the event standings, Wagenknecht finished behind the WZ Racing trio in fourth place, with Mikula rounding out the top five. Oliver extended his lead at the top of the championship, ahead of Nickel, Gwerder, Peter König (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) and Rasmus Pedersen (DK/Filten Racing).

“Overtaking was not easy here and it was important not to be too impatient at the start of the race, as I discovered for myself when I came off the track in race two. The third race was a very good one, as I led from start to finish. The fact that the team occupied all three steps of the podium is a great achievement and very enjoyable. I am pleased to be leading the championship, but we still have a lot of races in the second half of the season, in which anything can happen,” said Oriol Oliver.

ADAC MX Junior Cup: Jarne Bervoets wins for the second time After the opening round of the ADAC MX Junior Cup in Fürstlich Drehna at the start of April, the class was back in action in Bielstein. At the end of the two races, championship leader Jarne Vervoets climbed onto the top step of the overall podium. However, the fastest rider in qualifying, Áron Katona (HU/HTS KTM), finished level on points. This pair each won one race and came home third in the other. However, the overall victory went to the rider with the better result in the final race. Dani Heitink (NL/DH-MX) finished runner-up in both races and did a good job of matching the tempo at the head of the field. That earned him third place in the event standings, ahead of Moritz Ernecker (A/AMX Racing), who was fourth in both races. Dex Kooiker (NL/Stichting Motorsport Talent) took fifth place overall and in race two, having previously ended the opening race in seventh place. David Widerwill (CZ/Mefo Sport-Q Racing Team) completed the top five in race one, but was unable to finish the second race. Bervoets extended his lead in the championship, while Katona climbed from fifth to second in the table, ahead of Dean Gregoire (NL/Voss KTM Racing). Heitink rose from tenth to fourth place, with Ernecker fifth.

“It is good to be back on the top step of the podium and to win again. My pace was good all weekend and I really enjoyed the battle with Dani Heitink in race two,” said Bervoets at the presentation ceremony.

Team competition: Kosak Racing Team wins The best result from each team counts towards the Team competition, whereby the result of the ADAC MX Masters class scores double points. In Bielstein, it was Kosak Racing Team who took the honours, ahead of KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek and KTM Sarholz Racing Team. At the midway point of the season, KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek leads KTM Sarholz Racing Team and Kosak Racing Team by just two points. BECKER Racing is fourth, ahead of Filten Racing.

All the races from both days of the event can be watched in a full replay or as individual races via the free ADAC MX Masters playlist on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel. You can find all the weekend’s results online at adac.de/mx-masters.
