The youth classes in the ADAC MX Masters thrilled the numerous fans and the established stars at the Denmark debut for the series in Randers. Oriol Oliver (E/WZ-Racing) scored maximum points in his three races to move to the top of the championship table in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. Mads Fredsøe (DK/STC Sturm Racing) thrilled Danish fans with a home win in the two ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 races to lead the championship too.
ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Oriol Oliver in a class of his own
Oriol Oliver made his mark on the ADAC MX Youngster Cup with three race wins. The Spanish rider won every race by some distance, even after a fall in race three. As at the previous event, his WZ Racing team-mates Cato Nickel (D) and Mike Gwerder (CH) completed the overall podium. Nickel was struggling with a cold ahead of the races but was determined to compensate for his lack of energy on the challenging circuit. He finished second, fourth and sixth to secure second place in the overall standings, but had to hand over the championship lead to Oliver. Gwerder was just one point behind in third place overall, having finished ninth, second and third over the weekend. He had to go on the chase in race one after colliding with the starting gate. Peter König (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) battled his way to fourth overall, fighting up from a midfield position after each opening lap. Rasmus Pedersen (DK/Filten Racing) made a good impression in his home race, reaching third position in race two and finishing off with fifth place in the event standings. Magnus Smith (DK) and Scott Smulders (NL/KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek) recorded good individual results with race podiums, whilst also being forced to retire from one race each.
“I am very pleased with the weekend. I had a lot of fun on the track and it got even more difficult and challenging as the weekend continued. You had to keep your eyes peeled for a good line, it was the most difficult race of the season so far. In the first two races, I was able to take the lead quickly and pull away. The third race was certainly not boring, as I got a blockpass and then took a tumble as well. I am really pleased to have won all three races,” said a delighted Oriol Oliver.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 125: Fredsøe delights the Danish fans
Local hero Mads Fredsøe (DK/Sturm STC Racing) delivered a triumph in the overall standings for the fans in Denmark. In both races, he had to battle his way to the front from the start. He enjoyed vocal support from the fans in race one, moving past Maximilian Werner (D/Fantic Factory Team Maddii) at the halfway point to slot in behind leader Vitezslav Marek (CZ/Cermen KTM Racing Team), where he stayed to the finish line. In the second race, Fredsøe took the lead on lap five from Maximilian Ernecker (A/AMX Racing) to record the first race win of his career in the class and top the event standings. The win saw Fredsøe take the championship lead from Janis Martins Reisulis (LAT/Hamstra MX Team), who was not racing in Denmark. Marek finished the second race in third place, putting him second in the event standings ahead of Nicolai Skovbjerg (DK/Yamaha Scandinavia/Wozniak Racing). Level on points, Gyan Doensen (NL/WZ-Racing) and Werner completed the top five in Randers. In the championship, Werner, Marek and Doensen are now neck and neck in second to fourth positions, with Skovbjerg in fifth.
“It is unbelievable to win here in Randers and I am very happy. I rode well in both races. I didn’t start race one so well and it took me a while to make my way to the front. I had a better start in the second race and was able to take the leader sooner and control the race,” said a beaming Mads Fredsøe at the podium ceremony.
