Title race takes shape in the ADAC MX Masters in Tensfeld

Only Max Nagl and Tom Koch remain in the race for the ADAC MX Masters title. Oriol Oliver looking to extend his lead in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. Bergfest festival for the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 in Tensfeld. Injury forces Jeffrey Herlings out of the event.

This weekend (26th/27th August), Tensfeld hosts round six of the ADAC MX Masters, together with the ADAC MX Youngster Cup and the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85. In the ADAC MX Masters class, the title race has boiled down to just two contenders: defending champion Max Nagl (D/KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek) and Tom Koch (D/Kosak Racing Team). Oriol Oliver (E/WZ-Racing) is hoping to extend his championship lead in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. Now that Jarne Bervoets (B/Bervoets Racing Team) has moved up a class, the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 will most likely have a new leader. Record Grand Prix winner Jeffrey Herlings (NL/Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), who was due to make a guest start in Tensfeld, fractured his collarbone last weekend and is unable to start. Fans can follow the races live at the track and via a free livestream at adac.de/mx-masters.

And then there were two: DNFs and injuries suffered by their rivals have left Max Nagl and Tom Koch as the only two riders realistically battling it out for the title in the ADAC MX Masters class. Nagl arrives in Tensfeld with a 31-point lead, but Koch has gradually eaten away at Nagl’s advantage over the past three races. Both are good riders on sand, meaning the track belonging to MCE Tensfeld e.V., which asks big questions of the riders’ fitness, could prove pivotal in the title race. Behind the two front-runners, Jordi Tixier (F/KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek) and Adam Sterry (GB/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) are close together in the table. However, ADAC MX Masters rookie Maximilian Spies (D/Kosak Racing Team) has really caught the eye recently with outstanding results in the world championship, particularly on sandy ground, and will be looking to finish on the overall podium again in Tensfeld. Henry Jacobi (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) had an operation on his injured shoulder after Gaildorf and will miss the rest of the season. That gives riders like Nico Koch (D/Becker Racing), Jakub Teresak (CZ/Enduro Koch Racing), Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), Simon Jost (CZ/Osicka MX Team), Tim Koch (D/VisuAlz Production), Stefan Ekerold (D/Team Bauerschmidt MB33), Boris Maillard (F/stielergruppe.mx Johannes-Bikes Suzuki), Lukas Platt (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) and many more the opportunity to improve or secure their place in the top ten. Milko Potisek (F/SHR Motorsports), the three-time winner of the Beach Race classic in Le Touquet, joins the series and could also cause a shock and pick up some top results in Tensfeld.

In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, Oriol Oliver will be attempting to extend his lead over his WZ-Racing team-mates Cato Nickel (D) and Mike Gwerder (CH). As well as this trio, a whole host of other riders have already claimed race and overall podiums, including Peter König (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), Jens Walvoort (NL/KTM SB Racing), Rasmus Pedersen (DK/Filten Racing), Marnique Appelt (D/Becker Racing), Edvards Bidzans (LVA/Sixty Seven) and Scott Smulders (NL/ KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek).

The ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 riders are hoping for regular races at their fourth event of the year in Tensfeld, after a muddy track prevented them from starting last time out. Championship leader Jarne Bervoets stepped up to a higher class during the summer break, which opens the door for Áron Katona (HU/HTS KTM), Dean Gregoire (NL/Schmicker Racing) or newly-crowned junior world champion Dani Heitink (NL/DH-MX) to move to the top of the table. From a German-speaking perspective, Moritz Ernecker (A/AMX Racing), Finn Lange (D/KTM GST Berlin/ADAC Hansa MX Junior Team) and Mika Plaas (D/HPM Racing) will be hoping for good results.

As well as the races, there will also be an entertaining programme off the track in Tensfeld. Young fans can try their hand on small quads and PW50 bikes on the Yamaha Quad Course. On Saturday evening, a pit bike race will take place at 18:30. From 12:20 to 12:50 on Sunday, Max Nagl, Tom Koch, Jordi Tixier, Adam Sterry and Maximilian Spies will attend an autograph session at the ADAC MX Masters Truck. During the lunch break there will also be a demo ride on the topic of e-fuels, as well as a demonstration practice session with the young riders from the ADAC MX Academy powered by KTM. Tickets for the event are available online now at motorsport.adac-sh.de/adac-events/tickets.

All the races in Tensfeld will be streamed live and free of charge. Between the races, numerous interviews will provide entertainment and up-to-date information. The livestream is broadcast at adac.de/mx-masters and on the new ADAC Motorsports channel at youtube.com/adacmotorsports. The programme begins at 13:50 on Saturday and the earlier time of 10:50 on Sunday.
