Maximilian Ernecker takes double victory in ADAC MX Junior Cup 125. Lucas Leok wins ADAC MX Junior Cup 85.
The numerous spectators at the ADAC MX Masters season opener in Fürstlich Drehna last weekend also saw exciting races in the junior classes. Edvards Bidzans (LV/KMP-Honda-Racing powered by Krettek) emerged as the overall winner from the three ADAC MX Youngster Cup races. Maximilian Ernecker (A/F4E Gasgas Junior Racing) is top of the table in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 after a double victory with the maximum points. Lucas Leok (EST / Team #111) takes the championship lead after the two ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 races.
ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Bidzans achieves success through consistency In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, Edvards Bidzans celebrated an overall victory in the strong field of riders in his first race for his new team, KMP-Honda-Racing powered by Krettek. The 2019 ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 champion began the weekend on Saturday with a charge up the field that saw him finish runner-up to Nicolai Skovbjerg (DK/Wozniak MX Racing Team). He didn't get off to a good start in the second race on Sunday afternoon either, but managed to fight his way to the front and take the race victory ahead of Dave Kooiker (NL/Schmicker Racing). A third-place finish in the third race was enough to secure victory in the overall standings for Bidzans. Bradley Mesters (NL/Kosak Racing Team) was similarly consistent, but without a race win. After two third places, he finished second in the last race to finish second in the event standings. Rasmus Pedersen (DK/Rhino Racing Team) struggled with poor starts in all three races and had to fight his way forward in each of them. After finishing fifth and sixth in the first two races, he won the third race shortly before the end after race leader Kooiker crashed. This put him in third place overall. Skovbjerg, the winner of the opening race, failed to finish the third race, but still finished in fourth place overall ahead of Martin Venhoda (CZ/Mefo Sport – Q Racing Team).
‘To be honest, I did not expect a result like this before the weekend, even though I felt I was well prepared. In the third race, I finally got off to a good start, but then collided with my team-mate and had to fight my way back to the front again. I am very happy about the overall victory and my first red plate for the championship lead since winning the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 title in 2019,’ beamed Bidzans.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 125: Ernecker excels with double victory In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, Aron Katona (HU/HTS KTM), who had been promoted from a lower class, impressed as the LS2 Best Qualifier. He took the lead from Maximilian Ernecker after the latter's Red Bull Holeshot in the first race and led the race until a crash of his own three laps before the end. Ernecker benefited from Katona's mistake and won the opening race ahead of the Hungarian and Tomass Saicans (LV/MX Magnum). In the second race, Ernecker again benefited from a crash by Saicans, who had been in the lead up to that point, shortly before the end of the race, taking his second victory and the overall lead in the series ahead of Katona. ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Jonathan Frank (D/Becker Racing) also overtook Saicans on the final laps and, after finishing fourth in the first race, went on to finish third in the second race to claim a place on the overall podium. Saicans and Zoltan Ördög (RU/Top Cross TCS Racing Team) rounded off the top five in the overall standings.
‘My season couldn't have got off to a better start with two race wins, and I'm over the moon, even if I did benefit a bit from the other guys‘ crashes,’ said Ernecker at the award ceremony.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 85: Lucas Leok makes lightning starts to claim victory In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85, Lucas Leok turned out to be a quick starter in the race class for the youngest drivers, taking two Red Bull holeshot wins in the two races. In the first race on Saturday, he was beaten by Ryan Oppliger (CH/Oppliger Racing Sàrl), but on Sunday, he took a flawless start-to-finish victory. This result puts Leok at the top of the championship. Oppliger finished third behind Ricardo Bauer (A/KTM) in the second race after his opening victory, with Fürstlich Drehna finishing second ahead of Bauer. Oliver Jüngling (D/ ADAC Hessen-Thüringen MX Rookie Team/Kosak Racing Team) was the best-placed German in fourth place after two fifth places in the season opener, ahead of Soren Winter (DK/Mefo Sport Racing Team). It was unlucky for Emil Ziemer (D/Motobike Racing Team), who had been in third place on Saturday after a strong charge up the field, but who then had to retire on Sunday after a heavy crash.
‘That was a good weekend at a great track. I was very pleased with my riding. My good starts helped me, and I'm very happy with this victory,’ said Lucas Leok, who was thrilled with his Red Plate.
Team standings: KMP-Honda-Racing Team powered by Krettek lead the way The team standings are based on the best result achieved by each team in each class, with the result in the ADAC MX Masters class counting double. At Fürstlich Drehna, KMP-Honda-Racing Team powered by Krettek finished as the best team, just ahead of Kosak Racing Team and Schmicker Racing. KTM Sarholz Racing Team and WZ-Racing KTM completed the Top Five.
All the races from both days of the event are available as live stream or as individual races free of charge from the ADAC MX Masters playlist on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel. All weekend results are available online at adac.de/mx-masters.
