ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Greutmann battles his way to the Red Plate

It was Nico Greutmann’s weekend: the Swiss only recorded results with the number one in them in the three races. After winning the first two races, he had to settle for eleventh place in race three, after a poor start and a collision with title rival Dave Kooiker (NL/Schmicker Racing). Despite this, Greutmann picked up the most points over the course of the weekend and thus claimed overall victory in Tensfeld. Bence Pergel (HU/HTS KTM) kicked off his weekend with the Red Bull Holeshot and second place on Saturday. However, he could do no better than eighth in race two, before ending the event with fourth place in race three. He stepped onto the event podium in second place for the first time this season. Bradley Mesters (NL/Kosak Racing Team) opened with a tenth place, but upped his game on Sunday. The young Dutchman came home third behind Ryan Alexanderson (AUS/WZ-Racing KTM) in race two, before following Rasmus Pedersen (S/Rhino Racing Team) home to repeat that result in the final race. Mesters was third overall in Tensfeld. After finishing third in the opening race on Saturday, Kooiker was visibly struggling with issues after a fast start to race two. He eventually retired towards the middle of the race. Kooiker then remained pointless in race three after the aforementioned collision. Event winner Greutmann moved to the top of the table, ahead of Kooiker and Maxime Grau (F/WZ-Racing KTM), who won race three.

“Right from the word go, the third race was not good for me. After a poor start, I struggled to make much progress and then hit the deck together with Dave after our collision. My best race was race two: I was at the front from the start and able to pace myself over the distance. All in all, I am very happy with the overall victory and the fact that I have taken the lead in the championship. The Red Plate will definitely look good on my Husqvarna at the next event in Gaildorf,” Greutmann grinned at the presentation ceremony.

EMX Women: Lucy Barker underlines here European title with overall victory in Tensfeld

The rapid European MX Women thrilled the crowd at the finale of the ladies European championship, which featured on the ADAC MX Masters bill. Fiona Hoppe won the Holeshot in race one, but was soon overtaken by Elena Kapsamer (A/Gasgas). European champion elect, Lucy Barker, crashed on the opening lap and dropped from fourth to tenth place. Hoppe hung onto the rear wheel of Kapsamer and attacked repeatedly until she regained the lead on lap four. She then fended off Kapsamer until she crossed the finish line to take victory. Barker battled back to third place in the final third of the race.

Hoppe was again first out of turn one in the second race, but again lost the lead on the opening lap – this time to Barker. A crash on lap four saw Hoppe fall back to sixth place. Tyra Bäckström (S/Gasgas) and Kapsamer consequently moved up to second and third. With three laps remaining, Kapsamer hit the deck, leaving Laura Raunkjaer (DK/Yamaha) to inherit third place. She was followed home by Hoppe. Barker took overall victory, ahead of Hoppe and Bäckström.
