Max Nagl crowns his season with victory at the season finale. Tom Koch is runner-up. Jordi Tixier improves to third place in the standings.
Some 14,500 spectators in optimal conditions witnessed a thrilling ADAC MX Masters season finale at Holzgerlingen. Max Nagl (D/KMP-Honda-Racing powered by Krettek), who had already been crowned the 2024 ADAC MX Masters champion, ended the season with overall victory at the Schützenbühlring. Tom Koch (D/Kosak Racing Team) defended his runner-up spot, although he had to settle for third place behind Jordi Tixier (F/KMP-Honda-Racing powered by Krettek) in Holzgerlingen.
Max Nagl: crowning glory of a strong season
Nagl, who had already been crowned champion before the race weekend, improved after finishing fourth behind Marcel Stauffer (A/Osicka MX Team) in the opening race on Saturday and took two race wins on Sunday. While he took a lights-to-flag victory in the second race after the Red Bull Holeshot, he had to wait until three laps before the finish in the third race before he was able to overtake Dennis Ullrich (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), who had been leading from the start, from the top spot. Ullrich achieved his best result of the season with second place ahead of Roan van de Moosdijk (NL/Kosak Racing Team).
‘It's great to end the season with another overall victory, even though it wasn't easy. Saturday was difficult because I got off to a bad start and had to fight my way through. The second race went perfectly with a start-finish victory, but in the third race I had to push hard to get past Dennis. I am very happy with the season, which I started with a strong winter preparation. Together with my team, we have developed the bike further and the strategy of winning as many races as possible at the beginning of the season has paid off,’ said Nagl after his victory.
Jordi Tixier: Successful end to a mixed season
Tixier, who came out on top for the third time in a row as the LS2 Best Qualifier on Saturday, won the first race of the weekend with ease. In the second race, he closed the gap on Nagl towards the end, but had to settle for second place. In the final third race, Tixier started in fifth place but fell back to eighth place during the race. Nevertheless, his results were enough for second place in the day's standings and a jump to third place in the standings.
‘It was a good weekend, apart from the third race. I'm very happy with second place today. Despite three retirements and two bad crashes this season, I'm happy to still make it onto the podium in the championship,’ Tixier summarised.
Tom Koch: successful defence of the vice-championship
Tom Koch started the race weekend with his first Red Bull Holeshot of the season and led the field until shortly before the end, before he was overtaken by Tixier after a small mistake. In the second race, Koch started in fifth place and fought his way up to third place behind Nagl and Tixier. On the last lap, he had to fend off an attack by Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team). In the third race, Koch, like Tixier, had a difficult time, but found a better rhythm as the race progressed and finished in seventh place – one position ahead of the Frenchman. This secured him second place in the championship.
‘Despite health problems in the last few weeks, I gave it my all to take the runner-up spot. It was a season with many ups and downs, and without the support of my team, I wouldn't have managed to fight back. I'm proud that it was enough for second place in the end,’ said Koch.
Maximilian Spies (D / Kosak Racing Team) and Adam Sterry (GB / Schmicker Racing) completed the top five in the overall standings, behind Nagl, Koch and Tixier.
