Max Nagl wins race one of the ADAC MX Masters in Bielstein. Maxime Grau recovers from a crash to take victory in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. Ryan Oppliger wins the opening race in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 at the Waldkurs.
Max Nagl (D/KMP-Honda-Racing powered by Krettek) continued his winning run in the ADAC MX Masters in what were good but challenging conditions on Saturday in Bielstein. In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, victory in the opening race went to Maxime Grau (F/WZ-Racing KTM). Ryan Oppliger (CH/Oppliger Racing Sàrl) emerged victorious from a thrilling four-way battle in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85.
ADAC MX Masters: Nagl makes it nine from ten
Max Nagl once again laid the foundation for his race win by taking the Red Bull Holeshot. By his own admission, the championship leader initially struggled to find the best ruts on the demanding “Waldkurs” track in Bielstein. However, he still managed to extend his lead consistently throughout the race, before claiming his ninth victory from a possible ten so far this season. Midway through the race, Jordi Tixier (F/KMP-Honda-Racing powered by Krettek) passed the excellent Jakub Teresak (CZ/Enduro Koch Racing) to take second place, having previously worked his way past Adam Sterry (GB/Schmicker Racing) and Petr Polak (PL/SHR Motorsports by Hartje). Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) also passed the Pole on the penultimate lap to round out the top five behind Nagl, Tixier, Teresak and Sterry.
“I am in good form at the moment. The race was very tiring, not necessarily physically, but mentally. I found it tough to find good ruts at first. My concentration started to wain after about 20 minutes, and I made a few mistakes. Unfortunately, the rain in the run-up to the event had washed away the good ground we had last year. However, the club is doing a good job and I am sure the conditions will be better tomorrow,” said a beaming Nagl after his victory.
ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Maxime Grau wins again on Saturday
Maxime Grau overtook Red Bull Holeshot winner Bence Pergel (HU/HTS KTM) to take the lead on lap three. However, he then hit the deck five laps later. That left Pergel to inherit the lead, but Grau was back at the head of the field just two laps later, and went on to take an impressive victory. Pergel was followed across the finish line in third place by Tom Schröder (D/Team #254), who had started from pole position as the LS2 Best Qualifier. In the final third of the race, Jan Krug (D/Sixty Seven Husqvarna Racing) benefitted from a mistake by Collin Wohnhas (D/OneForOne Production powered by EHS) to take fourth place, followed by Nico Greutmann (CH/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna).
“It was a tough race. I made life more difficult for myself by crashing. After that, I found some good lines and was able to retake the lead. I have won here in the past, and that is also my goal for tomorrow,” said Grau at the finish.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 85: Thrilling four-way battle for victory
Matyas Vyleta (CZ/KRTZ Motorsport s.r.o.) started the race with the Red Bull Holeshot, but had already surrendered the lead to Moritz Ernecker (A/HSV Ried Racing Team) by the end of the opening lap. A trio of riders, consisting of Ernecker, Raphael Hellmuth (D/ADAC Hessen-Thüringen MX Rookie Team) and championship leader Lucas Leok (EST/Team #111), pulled clear at the front of the field. Ryan Oppliger followed a short way back in fourth, having climbed up the standings from seventh place. Oppliger had worked his way into the leading group by the final third of the race. With three laps remaining, Hellmuth skidded during an attempted overtake and three laps later Oppliger passed Leok to move into second place. He then overtook Ernecker shortly before the end of the lap and went on to take victory ahead of the Austrian and Leok. Vyleta came home fourth, ahead of Storm Maymann (DK/Maymann Motorsports).
“That was a good four-way battle at times! My start was not so good, but I then calmly worked by way back to the leading group and took the lead with three laps remaining. The track is not easy to ride on, but I love hard ground and am already looking forward to tomorrow,” said a delighted Oppliger in the winner’s interview.
