Pergel, Van Drunen and Oppliger impress in Jauer

Bence Pergel takes the day's win in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup after his first race victory. Jayson Van Drunen takes an emotional one-two in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, while Ryan Oppliger extends his championship lead in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85.

The junior classes also provided exciting racing last weekend at Jauer as part of the ADAC MX Masters. Bence Pergel (HU/HTS KTM) narrowly missed out on maximum points in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup and achieved his first race and overall victory in this class. Jayson Van Drunen (NL/SHR Motorsports by Hartje) returned to winning ways after two injury-plagued years with a double victory in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125. Ryan Oppliger (CH/Oppliger Racing Sàrl) extended his lead in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 standings with maximum points. The KMP-Honda-Racing powered by Krettek team came out on top in the team standings in Jauer.

ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Bence Pergel on top for the first time

It was Bence Pergel's weekend. The young Hungarian took his first race win in this class in the first race on Saturday. After winning the Red Bull Holeshot, he lost the lead in the middle of the race, but regained it after a crash by Nicolai Skovbjerg (DK/Wozniak MX Racing Team) and finished safely ahead of Martin Venhoda (CZ/Mefo Sport - Q Racing Team) and Jaroslav Katrinak (SK/MRA Racing Team). In the second race on Sunday, the Red Bull Holeshot again went to Pergel and this time he took a start-finish victory ahead of Peter König (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) and Tom Schröder (D). After his third start win of the weekend, Pergel initially maintained the lead in the third race, but then had to let championship leader Nico Greutmann (CH/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna) pass him. Greutmann finished ninth and sixth after poor starts in the first two races and was determined to leave Jauer with a good result. He achieved this with victory ahead of Pergel and Venhoda. Pergel won the event classification in Jauer ahead of Venhoda and Greutmann, with Schröder and Leon Rudolph (D/Enduro Koch Racing) rounding off the top five in Jauer. Greutmann goes into the finale in Holzgerlingen with a 56-point lead over Pergel, who has moved up to second place in the standings and is the only remaining competitor with a chance of winning the title.

‘A dream has come true: my first race win, overall victory, winning the Red Bull Holeshot three times, it was a great weekend and I'm very happy,’ said a beaming Bence Pergel.

‘I didn't make my weekend easy with crashes and bad starts. That's why I really wanted to get a good result in the third race. All in all, it was bitter and disappointing for me in Jauer, so I'm all the happier that I showed in the end that I can still win,’ summarised Nico Greutmann.

ADAC MX Junior Cup 125: Jayson Van Drunen is back

The 2022 ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 champion, Jayson Van Drunen, made an impressive return to the top with a double victory in Jauer. The Dutchman has struggled with several injuries since winning the title, but returned to his usual strength in Jauer. After a start-to-finish victory in the first race ahead of Dean Gregoire (NL/Schmicker Racing) and championship leader Maximilian Ernecker (A/F4E Gasgas Junior Racing), Van Drunen was visibly emotional during the winner's interview. In the second race, he confirmed his performance with another victory after he had ousted Vaclav Janout (CZ) from the top position in the middle of the race. Janout remained within striking distance of the winner until the chequered flag, but was unable to mount an attack. Gregoire finished the race in third position ahead of Zoltan Ördög (RU/Top Cross TCS Racing Team). Van Drunen won the event classification ahead of Gregoire and Janout. Ernecker extended his lead in the standings to 19 points ahead of Aron Katona (HU/HTS KTM), who is the only rider who can still challenge the Austrian for the title.

‘Two good starts, that was all I needed. After two difficult years with injuries and other setbacks, the victory in Jauer has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders,’ said a relieved Jayson Van Drunen.

ADAC MX Junior Cup 85: Ryan Oppliger pulls away

In the first round of the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85, championship leader Ryan Oppliger benefited from the retirement of his main rival Lucas Leok (EST/Team #111) on the first lap. Oppliger took the lead on the first lap and never relinquished it until the finish, although he was under pressure from Jekabs Hudolejs (LVA/Gatis Hudolejs) for large parts of the race. Leo Diss-Fenard (F) finished in an unchallenged third place. Oppliger had to fight longer for victory in the second race after Dante Lantz (S) initially took the lead. From the fourth lap onwards, Oppliger took the lead in the leading group of five riders. Four laps before the end of the race, Lantz and Hudolejs collided, pushing Diss-Fenard and Leok into second and third positions. Oppliger secured victory in the day's classification with the maximum number of points ahead of Diss-Fenard and Hudolejs. Ahead of the final, Oppliger now leads by 44 points from Leok.

Team classification: KMP-Honda-Racing powered by Krettek extends its lead in the standings

In the team classification, the best result of a team in each class is taken into account, with the result in the ADAC MX Masters class being counted twice. In Jauer, the team from KMP-Honda-Racing Team powered by Krettek came out on top ahead of Schmicker Racing and the Kosak Racing Team. As a result, they extended their lead over the Kosak Racing Team, Schmicker Racing and the KTM Sarholz Racing Team. The HTS KTM team moved up to fifth place in the standings in Jauer.

All races on both days of the event can be watched free of charge as a re-live stream from Saturday and Sunday or in individual races via the ADAC MX Masters playlist on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel.
