Vellahn hosts the ADAC MX Masters for the first time. The track layout has been modified for the international riders. Nagl, Mesters and Ernecker lead coming into the third event of the season.
This weekend, the ADAC MX Masters, now in its 20th season, will make its first appearance at MC Vellahn e.V. in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The riders in the three classes – ADAC MX Masters, ADAC MX Youngster Cup and ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 – can expect to find a challenging track with different surfaces at the “Vellahner Heide” motorsport arena on 25th and 26th May. The circuit has been modified to meet the demands of the top international and national riders, in order to deliver exciting races for those watching at the track and via the livestream.
In the top class, the ADAC MX Masters, reigning champion Max Nagl (D/KMP-Honda-Racing powered by Krettek) lines up as the championship leader. He has won all but one of the season’s races so far, with Britain’s Adam Sterry (GB/Schmicker Racing) the only other racer to taste victory. Sterry lies third in the table, behind Maximilian Spies (D/Kosak Racing Team), who has had a strong season so far. Schmicker Racing Team riders Cornelius Töndel (NO) and Jere Haavisto (FIN) caught the eye in the first two races and are currently tied with Tom Koch (D/Kosak Racing Team) just outside the top three. Koch, Jordi Tixier (F/KMP-Honda-Racing powered by Krettek) and Henry Jacobi (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) have used the time since the previous event to recover from injuries suffered prior to the start of the season and are hoping to be back to full strength and challenging at the head of the field again in Vellahn. Oriol Oliver Vilar (E/WZ-Racing KTM) and Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) are also in the top ten and have their sights set on good results. Local favourite from MC Vellahn and ADAC Hansa, Cato Nickel (D/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna), is determined to do well at his home race in his first season in the top class, having picked up his first points in the world championship last weekend.
As well as the ADAC MX Masters class, the ADAC MX Youngster Cup and ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 will also be in action in Vellahn. In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, Bradley Mesters (NL/Kosak Racing Team) arrives in pole position as the championship leader. However, he will face stiff opposition from the likes of Dave Kooiker (NL/Schmicker Racing), Rasmus Pedersen (DK/Rhino Racing Team) and Nico Greutmann (CH/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna). Maximilian Ernecker (A/F4E Gasgas Junior Racing) leads the way in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 and is undefeated so far. Aron Katona (HU/HTS KTM), Raivo Laicans (LV/Sturm STC Racing), Jonathan Frank (D/Becker Racing) and Tomass Saicans (LV/MX Magnum) are out to end Ernecker’s winning run this weekend.
Vellahn is located between Schwerin and Hamburg and is easily accessible from the A24 motorway. At 1,555 metres in length, the track features different surfaces, ranging from sand and mixed ground to hard sections, and will test the riders’ riding skills, the way they set their bikes up, and their tyre selection. A few sections of the track have been improved for the debut of the ADAC MX Masters, particularly a number of jumps, some of which are up to 39 metres, and corner sections. For the first time this season, all the classes will contest three races at the weekend. The first races with points up for grabs will take place on Saturday, immediately after the Last Chance Race.
The event programme put together by MC Vellahn e.V. offers young visitors to the opportunity to try out small quads and PW50 bikes on the Yamaha Quad Track. Fans can purchase tickets for the races at reduced prices online at adachansa.de. From 12:15 to 12:45 on Saturday, Max Nagl, Maximilian Spies, Adam Sterry, Cornelius Töndel and Cato Nickel will be at the ADAC MX Masters Truck to sign autographs for fans.
All the races in Vellahn will be streamed live and free of charge. Between the races, a host of interviews will keep viewers entertained and informed. The livestream will be broadcast at adac.de/mx-masters. The programme begins at 14:15 on Saturday, and at the earlier time of 10:30 on Sunday.
