The many fans in Jauer witnessed thrilling battles in glorious summer weather on Saturday at the penultimate event of the ADAC MX Masters. In the ADAC MX Masters, Henry Jacobi (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) defeated Max Nagl (D/KMP-Honda-Racing powered by Krettek) on the final lap. Bence Pergel (HU/HTS KTM) won the ADAC MX Youngster Cup for the first time after a varied race. In the first round of the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85, Ryan Oppliger (CH/Oppliger Racing Sàrl) extended his lead in the championship by winning the race. Maximilian Ernecker (A/F4E Gasgas Junior Racing) took pole position for Sunday's race in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125.
ADAC MX Masters: Henry Jacobi with emotional race win
Dennis Ullrich (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) initially sprinted to the lead with the Red Bull Holeshot, but was ousted on the first lap by championship leader Max Nagl and Henry Jacobi. Cornelius Töndel (NO/Schmicker Racing) and LS2 Best Qualifier Jordi Tixier (F/KMP-Honda-Racing powered by Krettek) followed suit over the next two laps. The quartet dominated the action at the front, while Tom Koch (D/Kosak Racing Team) had to fight his way forward after starting in midfield and Maximilian Spies (D/Kosak Racing Team) after a crash at the start. Nagl and Jacobi gradually pulled away from their pursuers as the race progressed. Jacobi kept up the pressure over the entire race distance to the delight of the spectators. On the final lap, shortly after the pit lane, he managed an overtaking manoeuvre to take his first race win of the season ahead of Nagl, Töndel, Tixier and Jakub Teresak (CZ/Enduro Koch Racing).
ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Bence Pergel beaming with victory in first race
In the first round of the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, Bence Pergel took the Red Bull Holeshot ahead of Nicolai Skovbjerg (DK/Wozniak MX Racing Team) and Martin Venhoda (CZ/Mefo Sport - Q Racing Team). Skovbjerg took the lead in the middle of the race, but crashed on the penultimate lap. Pergel inherited the top position and saved it to the finish despite pressure from Venhoda and Jaroslav Katrinak (SK/MRA Racing Team). Two German riders, Leon Rudolph (D/Enduro Koch Racing) and Tom Schröder (D/Gasgas), rounded off the top five. Championship leader Nico Greutmann (CH/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna) finished the race in ninth place, but of his closest rivals, only Pergel made up ground in the championship. Bradley Mesters (NL/Kosak Racing Team) retired after four laps in the first race and Dave Kooiker (NL/Schmicker Racing) did not start in Jauer due to injury.
‘That was my first race win in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, which I've been working towards all year. The track was very difficult and I lost my rhythm a bit after winning the start. In the end, I almost messed up the win myself with a mistake, but I'm now very happy that it worked out,’ said a very satisfied Bence Pergel, who moved up to second place in the standings.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 125: Maximilian Ernecker on pole position
In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, Saturday was all about qualifying for the two races on Sunday. Championship leader Maximilian Ernecker set the fastest time in qualifying and will be first on the grid tomorrow ahead of Aron Katona (HU/HTS KTM) and Vaclav Janout (CZ).
ADAC MX Junior Cup 85: Oppliger withstands the pressure
Lucas Leok (EST/Team #111) took the Red Bull Holeshot to put himself in the best starting position, but got stuck in a tight corner after half a lap, was unable to get his bike restarted and retired. Championship leader Ryan Oppliger took advantage of the situation and took the lead from Jekabs Hudolejs (LVA/Gatis Hudolejs) before the end of the first lap, but the latter kept up the pressure on Oppliger in the first half of the race, falling back only slightly after making a mistake and then keeping up with the Swiss rider's pace. It was only towards the end of the race that Oppliger extended his lead a little more and won ahead of Hudolejs, Leo Diss-Fenard (F), who remained safely in third place throughout the race. Dante Lantz (S) pushed Tim Schröter (D/SevenSevenSix MX-School) out of fourth place after three laps, which also corresponded to the finishing order.
‘My start was good, even if I didn't win it, but I was able to take the lead quickly. Leok's retirement obviously favours me in the title fight, but you can see how quickly something like that can happen. That's why I'm not complacent and want to try to take the holeshot and another race win tomorrow,’ said Ryan Oppliger during the winner's interview.
The Re-Live of the first race day can be found on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel. The live stream of all the races on Sunday starts at 09:50. The digital programme, timetables and starter lists are available for download at adac.de/mx-masters.
