More than 330 applications for starting places. Starters from 26 countries. Competitive field features a record ten manufacturers.
With roughly two months remaining until the start of this season’s ADAC MX Masters on 27th/28th April in Fürstlich Drehna, the riders for the four classes – ADAC MX Masters, ADAC MX Youngster Cup, ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 and ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 – have been confirmed. Over 330 applications were received for the 21st season of the series. Competitors from 26 different countries will do battle for the title over the course of eight events from April to September. With ten manufacturers represented, including European brands KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, Triumph, Fantic and TM, as well as Japanese manufacturers Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha, the ADAC MX Masters is more diverse than ever.
ADAC MX Masters: Nagl sets sights on record with new team
Around 80 riders have registered for the top class in the series, which promises to produce thrilling battles and exciting races. Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing powered by Krettek) surprised many in the winter when he changed team and manufacturer after completing a hat-trick of titles last season. Now on the new 450cc Triumph, he is out to become the first rider to win four championships in a row, and to move out on his own as the record champion with six titles in the ADAC MX Masters. His former team-mate Jordi Tixier (F/ KMP-Honda-Racing by DVAG) will be hungry to prevent precisely that from happening. Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing) can also justifiably set his sights on the title and top results. More riders from last season’s top ten also line up again this year, including Jakub Teresak (CZ/KMP-Honda-Racing by DVAG), Jere Haavisto (FIN/Silve Racing) and Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team).
Top international riders like Roan Van de Moosdijk (NL/KTM Kosak Racing Team), as well as newcomers Mitch Evans (AU/Luke’s Racing – Hertrampf Gruppe), Victor Alonso Rodilla (E/KMP-Honda-Racing by DVAG) and Glen Meier (DK/Johannes Bikes Suzuki), also add their strength to the field. Furthermore, a number of talented riders making the step up from the ADAC MX Youngster Cup could also cause a few upsets. Names like Edvards Bidzans (LAT/KMP-Honda-Racing by DVAG), Peter König (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), Dave Kooiker (NL/Stichting Motorsport Talent), Rasmus Pedersen (DK/Rhino Racing Team), Max Palsson (S/Becker Racing), Constantin Piller (D/Meyer Racing), Tom Schröder (D/Tim Dobberkau Motorsports/Team #254) and Martin Venhoda (CZ/Werthmann Racing Team by Mefo Sport) promise to be a breath of fresh air in the pinnacle of the ADAC series.
As well as the international starters, German-speaking riders Kevin Brumann (CH/MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing), Mike Gwerder (CH/HTS KTM Racing Team), Paul Haberland (D/Motorrad Waldmann), Tim Koch (D/Visualz Production), Lukas Platt (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), Cato Nickel (D/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna), Mark Scheu (D/SixtySeven Racing Team Husqvarna) and Pascal Rauchenecker (A) will also have their sights set on top results. Top international riders from the MXGP world championship are also expected to make a number of guest starts.
ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Greutmann out to defend his title
A change to the regulations mean the top three from the previous season may now continue to race in the same class – an opportunity that defending champion Nico Greutmann (CH/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna), Bradley Mesters (NL/KTM Kosak Racing Team) and Bence Pergel (HU/HTS KTM Racing Team) are hoping to take full advantage of. In Scott Smulders (NL/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing powered by Krettek), Jaroslav Katrinak (CZ/Ait Racing Team), Leon Rudolph (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), Valentin Kees (D/KTM Kosak Racing Team), Nikolaj Skovbjerg (DK/Wozniak MX Racing Team) and Jan Krug (D/SixtySeven Racing Team Husqvarna), the field of roughly 90 registered riders in this year’s ADAC MX Youngster Cup also includes many other strong riders. Fans can look forward to the return of Mads Fredsoe (DK/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna) and Maximilian Werner (D/Gabriel SS24 KTM). A number of promising riders have made the step up to this class: Maximilian Ernecker (A/WZ-Racing KTM), Jonathan Frank (D/Becker Racing), Mick Kennedy (NL/GripMesser/Hannamax Motorsport), Vitezslav Marek (CZ/Cermen KTM Racing Team) and Tomass Saicans (LAT/MX Magmum).
ADAC MX Junior Cup 125
Roughly 80 riders have applied for the 48 starting places available at each event in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125. This class forms the bridge between the 85cc category and the 250cc four-stroke bikes, and is fiercely competitive. Among this year’s favourites are Jayson Van Drunen (NL/MVD Racewear), Raivo Laicans (LAT/STC Racing), Travis Leok (EST/MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing), Dean Gregoire (NL/Motovation-Motorsport KTM), Ricardo Bauer (A/MSC Imbach MX Racing Team) and ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 champion Ryan Oppliger (CH/Oppliger Racing). From a German-speaking perspective, Moritz Ernecker (A/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), Finn Lange (D/KTM GST Berlin Racing/ADAC Hansa MX Junior Team), Oskar Romberg (D/Meyer Racing) and Max Meyer (D/Meyer Racing) are the riders to look out for.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 85
The youngest class in the ADAC MX Masters is also limited to 48 starters per event. Here too, roughly 80 applications were received. Among the favourites to do well in the coming season are Lucas Leok (EST/KTM MX Futures), Jekabs Hudolejs (LAT), Simon Hahn (D/KTM Kosak Racing Team/ADAC Pfalz), Luca Nierychlo (D/KTM MX Futures), Jarno Jansen (CH/SixtySeven Racing Team Husqvarna), Luca Frank (D/Becker Racing) and Harry Dale (GB/KTM MX Futures). All eyes will also be on German Youth Motocross Champion in the 65cc class, Felix Siegl (D/Husqvarna Pfeil), who will be making his debut in the series.
