Season opener in Fürstlich Drehna promises drama

Top international field in four classes. Max Nagl’s first start since switching team and manufacturer. Event programme includes ADAC MX Academy and autograph session.

In keeping with tradition, the ADAC MX Masters kicks off its 21st season in Fürstlich Drehna, in the German state of Brandenburg, this coming weekend (26th/27th April). A host of strong international and national riders in the four classes – ADAC MX Masters, ADAC MX Youngster Cup, ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 and ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 – promise to deliver an exciting opening round. The demanding sand track, known locally as “Rund um den Mühlberg”, has undergone numerous changes ahead of the season opener and will be ridden in its original clockwise direction for the first time for eleven years. Fans can watch the action unfold at the track and via a free livestream at adac.de/mx-masters.

Things have been shaken up in the top class, the ADAC MX Masters. Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing powered by Krettek) has switched team and manufacturer and is looking to become the first rider to win four championships in a row. Were he to succeed, that would also put him out on his own as the record ADAC MX Masters champion with six titles to his name. Local favourite Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing) and Roan Van de Moosdijk (NL/KTM Kosak Racing Team) can justifiably have their sights set on a top result at the opening event of the season. Jakub Teresak (CZ/KMP-Honda-Racing by DVAG), Jere Haavisto (FIN/Gripmesser Racing Team) and Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) are also among the riders who are well capable of finishing on the podium. As well as international stars like newcomers Mitch Evans (AU/Luke’s Racing – Hertrampf Gruppe), Victor Alonso Rodilla (E/KMP-Honda-Racing by DVAG) and Glen Meier (DK/Johannes Bikes Suzuki), German-speaking riders Marcel Stauffer (A/Osicka MX Team), Kevin Brumann (CH/MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing), Mike Gwerder (CH/HTS KTM Racing Team), Paul Haberland (D/Motorrad Waldmann), Tim Koch (D/Visualz Production), Lukas Platt (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), Cato Nickel (D/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna) and Mark Scheu (D/SixtySeven Racing Team Husqvarna) are also hoping for good results.

Joining the ADAC MX Masters on the programme in Fürstlich Drehna are the junior classes – the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 and ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 – with competitors from 26 different countries in total. The ADAC MX Masters and ADAC MX Youngster Cup classes will each contest three races at the weekend, while the riders in each of the two ADAC MX Junior Cup classes will line up in two races. The first races with points at stake will take place on Saturday, directly after the Last Chance Race. The ADAC MX Masters will start from metal start gates for the first time.

Fans can purchase tickets on the gate or in advance via the MSC Fürstlich Drehna website. Children aged six and above can gain their first Motocross experience in a three-hour taster session at ADAC MX Academy “on tour”. This can be booked in advance online at the ADAC MX Academy website, and any remaining places can also be booked on site. From 11:45 to 12:15 on Sunday, Max Nagl, Maximilian Spies, Jakub Teresak and Noah Ludwig will attend an autograph session for fans at the ADAC MX Masters Truck.

All the races in Fürstlich Drehna will be shown in a free livestream. A number of interviews will provide entertainment and the latest information between races. The livestream can be found at adac.de/mx-masters. Coverage starts at 14:35 on Saturday and the earlier time of 09:50 on Sunday.
