The season in the pinnacle of motorcycle racing kicks off in March at Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal, before heading to Termas de Rio Hondo (Argentina) and Austin, Texas (USA). From there, the two-wheeled specialists travel to Jerez in Spain. The other European races are also highly-anticipated: Le Mans hosts the 1000th Grand Prix, followed by races in Mugello, the LIQUI MOLY Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany at the Sachsenring, and Circuit Assen. New to the calendar is the Sokol International Racetrack in Kazakhstan. The country in central Asia is the 30th nation since 1949 to host a motorcycle Grand Prix.
From Kazakhstan, the MotoGP paddock heads to Great Britain and on to Spielberg in Austria. This is followed by the GP of Catalonia at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which has been moved back to September. The motorcycle elite then bids farewell to Europe in Misano, before the action resumes in another new country for MotoGP: India.
The debut of the Buddh International Circuit marks the 75th venue for a MotoGP race. From there, the season continues in Japan, Indonesia, Phillip Island (Australia) and Thailand. The championship then ends with a thrilling triple-header: after the Malaysia GP, the riders head west again to Qatar, where the penultimate race will take place under floodlights in Lusail. Then, rounding off the season with the classic final fiesta of the year, the world championship draws to a close at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia.
