Lausitzring: Pole position for Marvin Dienst in Sunday’s race

The Toksport WRT driver was unbeatable in qualifying for the Sunday race in the Prototype Cup Germany at the DEKRA Lausitzring. Once again, the top three featured all three manufacturers.

Qualifying for race two of the Prototype Cup Germany at the DEKRA Lausitzring was a really exciting affair. On a drying track, the fastest times came set at the end of the 15-minute session. In the end, it was Marvin Dienst (25/Lampertheim) in a Ligier JS P320 run by Toksport WRT who came out on top with a time of 1:22.418 minutes. “The conditions on the track were not easy. However, we coped really well,” said a delighted Dienst, who shares the cockpit with Berkay Besler (23/TUR). “I did not have a single green sector on my fastest lap, so it could definitely have been a little bit faster. It was tough to get the tyres working optimally today, but everyone had the same issue.”

Dienst will now start the Sunday race in the Prototype Cup Germany from pole position for the third time in a row. Joining him on the front row of the grid will be the Ginetta G61-LT-P3 of Maximilian Hackländer (32/Rüthen), who trailed him by 0.449 seconds in qualifying. “I would have liked to have been a bit closer to first place. However, we are obviously happy with second place,” said Hackländer, who starts alongside Axcil Jefferies (28/ZWE). “It was not easy out there on the track. However, it was a lot of fun in the mixed conditions. We want to try to beat Toksport WRT in the race.”

Third place in qualifying, 1.033 seconds back, went to the Duqueine D08 of Gary Hauser (30/LUX) and Sebastian von Gartzen (29/Butzbach, both Racing Experience). As such, the starting order is the same as for Saturday’s race in the Prototype Cup Germany at the DEKRA Lausitzring.

The Ginetta of Danny Soufi (19/USA, Konrad Motorsport) and the Duqueine of Oscar Tunjo (26/COL) and Mateo Villagomez (20/ECU, both Rinaldi Racing) complete the top five. Sunday’s race starts at 16:30 and is streamed live and free of charge at youtube.com/adac, adac.de/motorsport and youtube.com/24hseries.
