Nürburgring: Pole position for Marvin Dienst on Sunday

Toksport WRT driver Marvin Dienst was unbeatable in qualifying for race two of the Prototype Cup Germany at the Nürburgring. All three manufacturers in the top three.

Marvin Dienst (25/Lampertheim) was the fastest driver in qualifying for Sunday’s race in the Prototype Cup Germany at the Nürburgring. He completed his lap of the 3.618-kilometre circuit in the Eifel Mountains in 1:20.055 minutes at the wheel of the Ligier JS P320, run by the Toksport WRT team. “We are obviously thrilled with the pole position,” said Dienst, who shares the car with Berkay Besler (23/TUR). “I promised the team a time of 1:19, so I am a little frustrated that I did not find the last 0.055 seconds.”

Second place, 0.598 seconds slower, went to the Duqueine D08 of Gary Hauser (30/LUX) and Sebastian von Gartzen (29/Butzbach, both Racing Experience). “That is a super result for the team. We realised yesterday that our pace is really good,” said von Gartzen, who was at the wheel for qualifying. “The track improved with every lap. Our timing was perfect and we had a clear lap. We want to maintain this position in the race. We will definitely be pushing hard.”

In third place was the Ginetta G61-LT-P3 of Axcil Jefferies (28/ZWE) and Maximilian Hackländer (32/Rüthen, both Konrad Motorsport), who missed out on pole by 0.616 seconds. This means the top three places on the grid are occupied by all three manufacturers in the series. Fourth place was taken by the winners of Saturday’s race, Mads Siljehaug (26/NOR) and Freddie Hunt (35/GBR, both Reiter Engineering) in a Ligier, ahead of Klaus Abbelen (61/Barweiler) and Felipe Fernández Laser (33/Leipzig, both Frikadelli Racing) in another Ligier.

The Sunday race in the Prototype Cup Germany gets underway at 14:55 and is streamed live and free of charge at youtube.com/adac, adac.de/motorsport and youtube.com/24hseries. “Our goal is definitely to win the race,” said pole-sitter Dienst. “After the two wins at Spa-Francorchamps, this would be our third victory in four races. We will be doing everything we can to pull it off.”
