Racing Experience from Luxembourg enriches the Prototype Cup Germany. Team principal Christian Hauser used to race himself. Now, son Gary Hauser is at the wheel of the Duqueine.
Eleven teams lined up on the starting grid at the opening round of the Prototype Cup Germany at Spa-Francorchamps, and one of these teams was Racing Experience. The team from Luxembourg brought one Duqueine to Belgium, with Gary Hauser and Sebastian von Gartzen at the wheel. After technical issues at the start of the weekend, they improved consistently and came home fifth in each of the two races. The pairing of Hauser / von Gartzen currently lies fifth overall after the season-opener.
The Racing Experience team was founded in 2000 by Christian Hauser, a racing driver at the time. Hauser had previously enjoyed success on two and four wheels, in touring cars and Formula cars, at racetracks and on hillclimbs. Christian Hauser called time on his driving career in 2002, by which point his two sons David and Gary were already active on the karting scene. Racing Experience entered Formula racing for the first time in 2005, initially in Formula Renault 1.6 Benelux. “Gary still holds the track record in Spa for Formula Renault 1.6, and will do for ever – as that class no longer exists,” Christian Hauser laughs. A little later came the move into the ATS Formula 3 Cup, before the team added two GP2 cars to its collection. David contested hillclimbs in one, while Gary entered BOSS GP in the other. “We ran this GP2 programme successfully for a number of years, until we decided that it would be nice if David and Gary could race together,” explains Christian Hauser. “Because that is not possible with Formula cars, we had to find another option. We didn’t want cars with a roof, so we ended up in LMP racing.”
Racing Experience ordered an LMP3 Ligier and entered the GT & Prototype Challenge in the Dutch Supercar Challenge. “Back then, we had left strong teams like Inter Europol Competition in our wake and won the title at the first attempt,” says Hauser, proudly recalling the successful LMP3 debut with David and Gary. The family company also entered the Michelin Le Mans Cup and the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) in the following years. “In 2022, David decided he did not want to race anymore; he had just become a dad and wanted to have more time for his own family,” says Christian Hauser, who accepts the decision of his now 32-year-old son. “Goals in life change – that is totally normal and quite okay.” As Gary, two years David’s junior, was not yet ready to hang up his helmet, a new partner had to be found. “In Sebastian, we have found a really good driver, with whom we now line up in the Prototype Cup Germany. At the same time, Gary has recently also started to race alongside his wife Lea.”
