The Racing Experience driver went fastest in qualifying for race one of the Prototype Cup Germany at TT Circuit Assen. Five Duqueine D08 to start from the first five positions on the grid.
Markus Pommer (32/Untereisesheim) was unbeatable in qualifying for Saturday’s race in the Prototype Cup Germany at TT Circuit Assen, securing pole position with a time of 1:30.019 minutes in the Racing Experience Duqueine D08. “I have always been in the top three recently, but it feels awesome to have finally made it onto pole,” said the former ADAC GT Masters driver, who shares the cockpit with Gary Hauser (31/LUX). “I already had the Formula 3 lap record here in Assen. Now I have added the LMP3 lap record. I am thrilled about that. The track seems to suit me.”
“My fastest lap was a really good one. The Michelin tyres were right at their peak,” Pommer continued. “I was actually a bit faster at the start of the next lap, but then got turn eight slightly wrong, which meant I was unable to improve on my time.”
Second place, 0.350 seconds slower, went to fellow Duqueine racers Matthias Lüthen (42/Hamburg) and Laurents Hörr (25/Gerlingen, both Koiranen Kemppi Motorsport). Hörr, at the wheel for qualifying, set a fastest time of 1:30.369 minutes.
The Duqueine of Oscar Tunjo (27/COL) and Julien Apothéloz (22/CHE, both Van Ommen Racing by DataLab), who are currently second in the championship, ended qualifying 0.381 seconds off the leading time in third place. Their team-mates at Van Ommen Racing by DataLab, Xavier Lloveras (23/ESP) and Gabriela Jílková (28/CZE), were fourth with a deficit of 1.252 seconds. Rounding out the top five were Valentino Catalano (17/Westheim) and Robin Rogalski (23/POL, both DKR Engineering) in another Duqueine.
Saturday’s Prototype Cup Germany race at TT Circuit Assen gets underway at 14:00 and will be streamed live and free of charge, with German and English commentary, on the ADAC Motorsport channel youtube.com/adacmotorsports.
