Racing Experience – A Profile of the Team Champions

The team from Luxembourg won the Team championship in the Prototype Cup Germany. Racing Experience lined up with two Duqueine D08 and claimed four victories in twelve races.

Big success for Racing Experience: the established racing team from Wormeldange in Luxembourg won the Team title in the 2023 Prototype Cup Germany. Racing Experience also led the pairing of Gary Hauser (31/LUX) and Markus Pommer (32/Untereisesheim) to the Drivers title in the LMP3 series, which is organised by the ADAC and Creventic. “We are obviously delighted with this success, which is of great significance in the history of our team,” says team principal Christian Hauser. “The Team title is almost made even nicer by the fact that it seemed an impossible feat ahead of the season. Unlike our main rivals, we only had one car that was considered capable of finishing at the front of the field. Our second Duqueine was evidentially the Bronze car – meaning it did not have the same kind of speed.”

The season began well for Racing Experience. Gary Hauser and Markus Pommer came up trumps at the Hockenheimring with a second place and a race win. This was followed by a further two podiums at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. After the event in Zandvoort, Hauser and Pommer won the Saturday race in Assen and at the Finale at the Nürburgring. That paved the way for the Team title. However, the team from Luxembourg’s second Duqueine, also played a major role in the success. This was initially driven by Kevin Rohrscheidt (31/Stuttgart) and Wolfgang Payr (59/AUT), before David Hauser (33/LUX) took over from Rohrscheidt in the cockpit from Assen onwards. “There were some really exciting and close races. However, the highlight of the season for me was definitely the fact that neither of the two cars had a single retirement due to a technical issue. That confirms how well our cars are prepared and the quality of our staff,” said team principal Hauser proudly.

Christian Hauser used to race cars himself and, among other things, enjoyed great success at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and on the hillclimb scene. He then formed Racing Experience in 2000. “The name is easy to explain. We had acquired so much experience of motorsport over the years that we found the name Racing Experience to be very appropriate,” says Hauser. In the first few years after its formation, the team was predominantly involved in Formula racing. At times, Racing Experience fielded up to four cars in the German Formula 3 Cup.

The team then moved into LMP3 racing in 2017 – and with great success, winning the title in their first year in the Dutch GT & Prototype Challenge. In 2019, Racing Experience lined up in the Le Mans Cup. This was followed by a move to the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) in 2019, before switching to the Prototype Cup Germany ahead of the 2022 season. “What we particularly like about the Prototype Cup Germany is the format, with two sprint races per weekend,” says Hauser. “It is also excellent to have different options when it comes to the driver combinations – for example, you are not necessarily obliged to have Bronze drivers.”

Racing Experience is a real family racing team. When it comes to logistics and team relations, Christian Hauser can count on the experienced hands of his wife Karin. As the team’s ‘good soul’, she brings everything together behind the scenes. His sons Gary and David Hauser are on driving duty in the cockpit. Gary’s wife Lea Mauer is the team manager. “The family team spirit is what makes us different,” says the team principal. “Nobody tries to be the star and everyone is pulls together. When everything is going well, it is easy – and when things get a bit tough, it is all the more important. We treat each other very respectfully, and win and lose as a team.”

Racing Experience hopes to defend its title in the Prototype Cup Germany in the coming season. “We have had an awful lot of interest from drivers and partners, and would like to compete in the Prototype Cup Germany again,” explains Christian Hauser. “We are motivated to continue at the same level as we have demonstrated so far.”
