Prototype Cup·22.10.2024

A first trip to Austria and proven technology

2025 calendar again features six race weekends. Prototype Cup Germany returns to the Norisring and makes its debut at the Red Bull Ring. LMP3 series to continue with cars in line with 2020-2024 technical regulations in 2025.

The Prototype Cup Germany goes into its fourth season in 2025 with a tried-and-tested technical package and a new circuit. The calendar includes six events, with the series set to feature on the support programme of the DTM on four occasions. And there is a premiere in store for the LMP3 prototypes: the series travels to the Red Bull Ring in Austria for the first time for the finale in September. The season gets underway from 18th to 20th April at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. The cars used in the 2025 Prototype Cup Germany will again be LMP3 prototypes with a V8 naturally-aspirated engine, in line with the technical regulations that have also applied up to 2024.

The calendar for the 2025 Prototype Cup Germany is an attractive one. The season kicks off from 18th to 20th April on the same bill as the 24h Series at the Spa-Francorchamps Formula 1 circuit. From there, the teams head to the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg from 9th to 11th May, where the LMP3 series lines up as part of the ADAC Hockenheim Historic event. The first race weekend with the DTM follows two weeks later at the Dekra Lausitzring (23rd to 25th May). The Prototype Cup Germany is also involved at the traditional highlight of the German motorsport season at the Norisring (4th to 6th July). From 8th to 10th August, the Le Mans prototypes are back on the DTM support programme at the Nürburgring. The finale takes place from 12th to 14th September, when the series makes its first appearance at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. To allow the teams to prepare cost-effectively for the races, tests will take place on the day before five of the six events.

Detailed amendments to the sporting regulations are planned for the coming year. The race format will remain the same, with two 55-minute races and the same cars with V8 naturally-aspirated engines. In 2025, they can be used exclusively in the Prototype Cup Germany in Europe.
