The Berlin-based outfit plans to run two Duqueine D08 in the 2025 season of the Prototype Cup Germany. The team feels there is a far greater demand for the Prototype Cup Germany than in previous years.
The next step for BWT Mücke Motorsport in the Prototype Cup Germany: the established racing team will line up with two Duqueine D08 in the 2025 season, doubling its involvement in the series organised by the ADAC and Creventic. “As a team, we feel there is a far greater demand for the Prototype Cup Germany than in previous years,” explains team principal Stefan Mücke. “I am pleased, at this early stage, to be able to announce that we will run two cars. The platform is very attractive for young drivers and can offer a direct route towards a professional career.”
A few days ago, BWT Mücke announced that Mattis Pluschkell would be driving for them in the Prototype Cup Germany. Pluschkell raced in ADAC GT4 Germany in 2024 and will now step up to the 455-hp LMP3 car in 2025. Riccardo Leone Cirelli has now been announced for the second car. The 16-year-old Italian started for BWT Mücke Motorsport in the Prototype Cup Germany in 2024. “We already know Riccardo and Mattis well. This continuity forms an ideal basis, on which to start preparing now for the coming season,” Mücke adds.
Cirelli ended the 2024 season in third place alongside Julien Apothéloz (23/CHE) and was still in contention for the title going into the finale at the Sachsenring. The duo bagged a brace of victories at the Hockenheimring. “Riccardo switched from karting straight into an LMP3 car and is an exceptional talent,” says team principal Stefan Mücke. “He developed superbly in his first season in automobile racing and enjoyed some fine success together with Julien. For us, it was an obvious decision to continue working with Riccardo. We are confident that he will be among those challenging for the title in the 2025 Prototype Cup Germany.”
In confirming that it will run two cars in the Prototype Cup Germany in 2025, the BWT Mücke Motorsport team has made an early commitment to the series. Stefan Mücke points to several reasons behind the decision: “We are experiencing a global boom in prototype racing. In my opinion, there is no better car than an LMP3 when it comes to developing as a driver. The cars offer talented young drivers the opportunity to learn a huge amount with regard to their driving style and the set-up work. With this knowledge in the bank, they can then go on to put themselves in the frame for a cockpit at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, for example. The LMP3 car is also much cheaper than a GT3 car. And the prototypes are even faster at most circuits.”
And it doesn’t stop there: as well as the LMP3 car, which he feels has so much to offer for young drivers, Mücke is also impressed by the calendar for the 2025 Prototype Cup Germany. “Four races will take place on the DTM platform, which is very attractive,” says Mücke. “Hockenheim Historic is also always well attended and, with its vintage Group C cars, is very well suited to the Prototype Cup Germany. And there is nothing we need to say about Spa – it is a fantastic racetrack. As such, I am utterly convinced that the racing series will continue its upward trend in 2025.” The 2025 Prototype Cup Germany gets underway from 18th to 20th April at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
