Holzem brothers set their sights on the title in a Duqueine

Juliano Holzem and Sandro Holzem will line up at the wheel of a Duqueine D08 for DataLab Sports with Rinaldi in the 2024 Prototype Cup Germany. The twins are particularly well known from the GT racing scene.

When the 2024 Prototype Cup Germany gets underway from 19th to 21st April, Juliano Holzem (19/Polch) and Sandro Holzem (19/Polch) will take their place on the starting grid. The twins from the Rhineland-Palatinate will share the driving duties in a Duqueine D08 for DataLab Sports with Rinaldi, and have grand plans. “Our tests and outings in the winter were very encouraging, so the goal is definitely to win the title in the Prototype Cup Germany,” says Juliano.

The Holzem brothers are well established in the world of ADAC Motorsport. In 2022, they competed in ADAC GT4 Germany, alternating at the wheel of an Aston Martin Vantage GT4. Sandro then made his debut on the big motorsport stage in 2023, when he started a BMW in the DTM. Meanwhile, his brother Juliano was driving a shifter kart for a French works team in the world championship and European championship. “It is obviously great to be driving together with Sandro again. We know each other and what makes us tick. We just work well together,” says Juliano, looking forward to competing alongside his brother Sandro.

The plan is for the Prototype Cup Germany, which is organised by the ADAC and Creventic, to pave the way for the Holzem brothers to take the next step on the career ladder. “We see a good future in prototypes. There are many works projects there at the moment. As such, we believe that the manufacturers will need more LMP3 and LMP2 drivers in the future,” says Juliano Holzem. “That’s why we decided to switch to prototypes. We obviously want to become works drivers at some point, and then to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, for example.”

Having previously raced on the GT scene, the brothers familiarised themselves with the prototype cockpit last winter, and immediately had a lot of fun, as Juliano explains: “The prototype is much more direct than a GT car. Sandro and I come from a karting background, so immediately felt right at home in the LMP3 car.”

In DataLab Sports with Rinaldi, the Holzem brothers can rely on an experienced racing team. The outfit from Mendig has been competing successfully on the LMP3 circuit for many years. Rinaldi Racing has also been involved in the Prototype Cup Germany from the outset and, under various guises, has six race wins to its name. No other team has won more races in the series, which was founded in 2022.
