One of the races cancelled at Spa-Francorchamps will be held at the coming Prototype Cup Germany race weekend. Eight and a half hours of driving time for the LMP3 cars at the DEKRA Lausitzring.
Plenty of track time and an outing on the grand motorsport stage: the Prototype Cup Germany can look forward to a very special race weekend at the DEKRA Lausitzring from 24th to 26th May. When the series makes the first of three appearances on the support programme for the DTM, it will not only guarantee a lot of interest amongst fans and some spectacular images, but also an extra portion of racing. This is because the LMP3 cars in the Prototype Cup Germany will contest a third race at the circuit in Brandenburg.
The additional race is scheduled for the Friday afternoon (24th May). As usual, the Saturday and Sunday will each also feature one race. All three races will be held over the standard duration of 55 minutes plus one lap. There will also be a 15-minute qualifying for each of the three races. Rounding off the race weekend will be a one-hour free practice on the Friday morning. That brings the total driving time to more than four and a half hours.
And there is more: for the teams in the Prototype Cup Germany, it is particularly worth making the trip to Lusatia this year, as the attractive racetrack will also host an official test day on the Thursday (23rd May). This will consist of three sessions, amounting to another four hours of driving time. All in all, roughly eight and a half hours of track time will be available to the drivers. The Prototype Cup Germany will be based directly in the garages at the Lausitzring, meaning it will also form part of the popular DTM Pit Walk.
The extra race on the Friday at the Lausitzring is a replacement for the race weekend at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, which had to be cancelled due to snow. Organisers are currently looking into the possibility of holding the second cancelled race from Spa later in the season.
