Zandvoort: Next guest start for Racing Experience

Established team from Luxembourg to line up at the Prototype Cup Germany race weekend at Circuit Zandvoort. Laurent Prunet from France and Uruguayan Tomas Granzella have already been confirmed as the two drivers.

Racing Experience is one of the most esteemed racing teams on the LMP3 scene. The team from Luxembourg has also enjoyed great success in the Prototype Cup Germany, which is organised by the ADAC and Creventic. The Racing Experience duo of Gary Hauser and Markus Pommer won the Drivers title in 2023 – and the Team title also went across the border to Luxembourg. Racing Experience is now set to make its return to the Prototype Cup Germany at the coming race weekend, from 12th to 14th July, at Circuit Zandvoort.

“We are really looking forward to the start in Zandvoort,” says team principal Christian Hauser, who himself used to be a racing driver. “We have known the circuit for a long time – even before it was renovated. Zandvoort is a very interesting track, at which the drivers can bring their qualities into play. It is always a challenge to consistently set fast lap times there.”

The two drivers at the wheel of the Duqueine D08 for the guest start have already been confirmed. They are junior driver Tomas Granzella and Trophy driver Laurent Prunet. Granzella comes from Uruguay and is flying to Europe specially for the race weekend in Zandvoort. Back in South America, he has largely caught the eye through his performances in karting and Formula racing. In 2024, he has also contested two race weekends in the Ligier European Series.

Gentleman driver Prunet can call on some experience of prototype racing. “We obviously don’t have any major sporting goals for Zandvoort,” says team principal Hauser. “For us, it is important that the two drivers familiarise themselves with the car and learn as much as possible. The outing in Zandvoort will serve as a kind of preparation for the 2025 season. It would be wrong to have any great expectations with regards to results in the races. Plus, neither of the drivers know the circuit. We will take whatever comes our way. As always, we are very motivated, the team will be at full strength, and we want to show ourselves at our best.”

Racing Experience made a guest appearance in the Prototype Cup Germany at the season-opener at Spa-Francorchamps. Back then, Wolfgang Payr and Sebastian von Gartzen were in the Duqueine cockpit. “The plan was actually for Wolfgang Payr to contest the race weekend with us in Zandvoort. However, he injured his leg/foot and is unable to start. As a team, we feel very sorry for him and hope he has a good recovery,” says Hauser. “However, we had already made our plans for Zandvoort, so we have signed up two new drivers in Granzell and Prunet.”

At the end of the month, Racing Experience travels to the Hockenheimring for tests, during which the team will try out other drivers for the 2025 season. Maybe they could unearth another championship-winning duo.
